The cooperative used ultraviolet mineralights, which were manufactured by Nigel Oliphant (a brother of the famous Australian nuclear physicist Sir Marcus Oliphant), in order to locate scheelite. Oliphant visited the Pilbara in 1951 and became a firm supporter of the movement.
