In 1987 a major documentary film, directed by David Noakes, was made about the strike. The marrngu and their ways of representing the past were foregrounded in it. For example, in one segment Jacob Oberdoo and Billy Thomas told the story of Dooley Binbin and Clancy McKenna taking the calendars around, and the people also re-enacted this historic moment.
